TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) said on Monday that three soldiers wounded in an attack in southern Lebanon are receiving medical treatment, including one who remains in serious condition.
TNI spokesperson Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah said the three injured soldiers are Private First Class Rico Pramudia, Private First Class Bayu Prakoso, and Private First Class Arif Kurniawan.
“Private First Class Rico Pramudia sustained serious injuries, while Private First Class Bayu Prakoso and Private First Class Arif Kurniawan suffered minor injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment,” Aulia told ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Aulia said the soldiers were injured after the Indonesian contingent’s post in Adshit al-Qusayr, southern Lebanon, was hit by artillery fire on Sunday, March 29.
The two soldiers with minor injuries have been treated at a UNIFIL Level I hospital.
“Meanwhile, the soldier with serious injuries has been evacuated by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut for further treatment,” Aulia said.
The attack also killed one Indonesian soldier, identified as Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon.
Aulia said arrangements are underway to repatriate Farizal’s body with assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut.
The TNI headquarters has not yet been able to explain in detail the cause or motive behind the attack.
Aulia said only that the incident occurred amid an exchange of artillery fire and that the military would heighten vigilance in carrying out its peacekeeping duties in Lebanon.
“The incident took place during mutual artillery exchanges, and it has not yet been determined which party directly caused it. UNIFIL is still conducting an investigation,” he said.
