1. BMKG: 3 Cyclone Seeds Trigger Extreme Weather Risks in Indonesia
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has identified three tropical cyclone seeds forming in the vicinity of Indonesia, prompting extreme weather potential across several regions.
The Head of BMKG Teuku Faisal Fathani stated that based on observations from the Tropical Cyclone Warning Center (TCWC) Jakarta until 7:00 a.m. local time today, the three active systems include tropical cyclone seed 90S in the Indian Ocean south of Banten-West Java, tropical cyclone seed 93S northwest of mainland Australia, and tropical cyclone seed 92P in the Carpentaria Gulf south of South Papua.
"We are monitoring the movements of these three cyclone seeds intensely 24 hours a day. We urge the public to remain calm but to increase awareness of potential indirect impacts, such as floods or strong winds. Make sure to only refer to official BMKG channels to avoid misinformation and hoaxes," said Faisal in a written statement on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
2. Tokyo Named the World's Best Culinary Destination 2026
The Japanese metropolis of Tokyo has been ranked as the world's best culinary destination, according to a survey by Sixt, a global mobility service provider. The Japanese capital's reputation rests on a blend of deep-rooted food traditions and contemporary global gastronomy.
From traditional sushi to mouth-watering street food like yakitori (skewered chicken), Tokyo boasts a diverse range of authentic Japanese and global cuisine. Beyond the popularity of viral foods on social media, such as ramen, 7/11 convenience store items, and matcha-flavored sweets, the city boasts approximately 160 Michelin-starred restaurants and 124 highly rated establishments.
Tourism data published by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) confirms that Japan will welcome a record 42.7 million international visitors by 2025. Tokyo is the country's main gateway and most visited city.
3. Japan-Indonesia Oil Reserves Disparity Amid Iran War Explained
Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia spoke about the wide gap between Japan and Indonesia's energy resilience, especially in fuel reserves.
"Our energy resilience, our storage, is only available for a maximum of 25-26 days, no more," he said during a press conference on the latest developments in the Middle East and its implications for the energy and mineral resources sector, held at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, as quoted from Antara.
Indonesia lags behind Japan's 254-day fuel reserves, which Bahlil attributed to the limited oil fuel reserves owned by the country. "If we import as much as Japan, where are we going to store them? That's our issue," he said.
