1. BMKG Explains Earthquake That Shocked Residents from Bali to Yogyakarta

The recent earthquake was felt shaking Kuta, Bali, and several areas in East Java and Yogyakarta. This earthquake was reported to have occurred on Monday morning at 04:40 local time.

Information shared by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) states that the earthquake had a Magnitude of 5.0-revised from the initial info which mentioned M5.2. The tremor spread from its epicenter in the sea in the Indian Ocean, 126 kilometers southwest of Blitar, East Java.

Originating from a depth of 10 kilometers, the earthquake was also reported to be less intense in Blitar, Nganjuk, Tulungagung, and even Karangkates in Malang Regency. It was also felt in Bantul, Yogyakarta.

2. A 5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Struck North Maluku, with One Aftershock

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a tectonic earthquake shaking the Halmahera Timur, North Maluku region on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 10:19:57 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time). BMKG's analysis shows that this earthquake has been updated with a magnitude of M5.2.

"The earthquake's epicenter is located at coordinates 1.28 North Latitude and 128.60 East Longitude, or precisely located on land in the Halmahera Timur, North Maluku region, at a depth of 10 kilometers," said the Director of Earthquakes and Tsunamis at BMKG, Daryono, in a written statement on Sunday.
