TEMPO.CO, Jakarta North Korean leader Kim Jong Un criticized the trilateral military cooperation between the United States, Japan and South Korea for only increasing tensions in the region. Pyongyang also vowed to take countermeasures, including developing nuclear power.

Kim said the deployment of all strategic nuclear assets, war games and military cooperation with Japan and South Korea could create an imbalance in the region and increase major challenges to security.

2. Prabowo Allows Imports to Fulfill Subsidized Fertilizer Needs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto allows imports to meet subsidized fertilizer needs. The fertilizer import regulations are stated in Presidential Regulation Number 6 of 2025 concerning Subsidized Fertilizer Management which was signed on January 30, 2025.

The policy is an amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 77 of 2005 concerning the Determination of Subsidized Fertilizer as Goods under Supervision. Prabowo granted the fertilizer import permit to achieve the food self-sufficiency target which is now a government priority.

3. Anindya Bakrie Believes US-China Trade War Could Open Opportunities for Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Bakrie said the trade war between the United States (US) and China and other countries could bring opportunities for the Indonesian economy. He said Indonesia could increase exports of a number of commodities to the US that have so far been supplied by China.

"America needs critical minerals from us, that could be the entry point," said Anindya after becoming the main speaker at the Mayapada Group Executive Gathering 2025 at Mayapada Tower 2 Jakarta, last Tuesday in a written statement, quoted Saturday, February 8, 2025.
