Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter has been ruled out for the remainder of the NFL season after undergoing knee surgery.

Hunter suffered the injury during practice last month and initial hopes among the Jaguars staff was that it would only be a short-term issue. He was placed on the injury reserve list and was ruled out until Week 13 at the earliest.

However, now reports have confirmed that Hunter has since undergone Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) Repair surgery and will not return to the field this season.

In a statement, the Jaguars said: 'Beyond the LCL, there was no additional damage to the knee, which Hunter injured during practice on Oct. 30.

'The procedure was performed by Dr. Dan Cooper and Jaguars team physician, Dr. Kevin Kaplan, in Dallas. Hunter, 22, will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, but is expected to return within six months to full football activities'.

The two-way star has 298 receiving yards thus far for his new team, while he's also played 36 percent of defensive snaps and racked up 11 solo tackles.

In his absence, the Jaguars will likely further rely on receivers Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington, who are first and third on the team respectively in receiving yards.

Jacksonville started the year 4-1, but the offense faded badly during its consecutive losses to the Seahawks and Rams. They have since won and lost once since then.

Hunter had his best pro game prior to getting injured during practice, racking up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Rams in London.

He also led the team in targets (14) during the team's 35-7 loss, and played a season-high 64 snaps.

Hunter was selected as the No.2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed a four-year, $46.65million contract with the Jaguars.

His rookie season will conclude with just seven games played, 28 passes caught for 298 yards receiving and one touchdown.
