TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A combined airstrike by the United States and Israel hit residential areas in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Monday night, killing approximately 40 people, according to the semi-official news agency Tasnim.
As reported by Anadolu on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Tasnim noted that the strike targeted the area surrounding Resalat Square in Tehran. This strike is part of a series of attacks that shook the capital on Monday night.
Regional escalation has been on the rise since Israel and the U.S. launched joint attacks on Iran on February 28, killing more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iranian authorities.
In response, Iran has retaliated by launching drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that house U.S. military assets.
Although the country remains under continuous attack, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, that his nation is prepared to continue the strikes as necessary. He also rejected peace talks, despite President Donald Trump's assertion that the war with Iran would soon end.
Abbas Araghchi told the U.S. news station PBS News that his country is prepared to sustain missile attacks and that negotiations with the United States are no longer on the agenda.
