TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has increased its aid efforts to Gaza ahead of Ramadan, dispatching cargo planes carrying hundreds of tons of food supplies on Friday.
The air delivery comes after the arrival of five UAE aid convoys in the Palestinian territories earlier this week, as reported by the state news agency WAM and cited by Arab News.
These land convoys, crossing from Egypt into Gaza, consisted of 73 trucks carrying over 1,185 tons of aid. This included food, tents, and other crucial necessities.
The Israeli genocide, which has persisted for 15 months, has tragically resulted in the deaths of more than 48,200 Palestinians and displaced 90 percent of the population.
Since the ceasefire took effect last month, there has been a surge in aid reaching the region.
On Friday, 257 tons of Ramadan food supplies were airlifted from the UAE to Gaza as part of Operation Knight 3.
These supplies were flown from Fujairah through a joint effort between the Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sharqi Humanitarian Foundation and the Fujairah Charitable Association (FCA).
Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Raqbani, chairperson of FCA, stated that this initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to "extend support to Palestinians and provide them with essential supplies."
To date, the UAE has delivered over 37,300 tons of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people through these ongoing operations.
