The Nebraska Cornhuskers deleted a tweet mocking Taylor Swift after the singer and her fiance Travis Kelce watched the team beat Cincinnati Bearcats on Thursday night.
Kelce's alma mater were playing at Arrowhead Stadium, his NFL home via the Kansas City Chiefs. To mark the occasion, the newly-engaged couple took a seat for the game in the Chiefs star's VIP suite alongside another legendary bearcat, Kelce's older brother Jason.
But the Bearcats lost 20-17 to the Huskers, who gloated about their win by sharing a photoshopped picture of Swift embracing their mascot - Herbie Husker in the place of Kelce, taken from their engagement pictures.
'Change of plans' they captioned the post. But it was met with such a fierce backlash, they eventually decided to take the post down.
'This is ridiculous but what do you expect from Nebraska. How anyone from chiefs kingdom cheers for this trash team. What a joke. Just a weird F***ing post,' one fan responded.
A Nebraska-based Swiftie also commented: 'I am from Nebraska. I have been a Husker fan my entire life and a fan of Taylor Swift since 2006. I don't care that it's deleted, I care that y'all thought this was acceptable to post in the first place.'

It was the couple's first public appearance together since they became engaged
Another livid Swiftie wrote: 'You did not think about that edit. You don't get to use a personal event of hers for your f**ka** promo in such a dehumanizing way.
'I don't care about what the f*** happened in that game. Don't use TAYLOR SWIFT!'
A separate irate Swiftie posted after seeing the picture: 'Time to take the Huksers account down since they want to be assholes to Taylor Swift.'
Even Dave Portnoy, one of the more famous Swifties and a Michigan fan, weighed in and vowed to avenge the post when Nebraska plays Michigan on September 20.
'As a Big 10 guy and a Swiftie this deleted tweet is DISGUSTING,' Portnoy said. 'No place for this in college football.
'Act like you've been there before Nebraska. I now have no choice but to declare Sept 20th a 'Taylor Swift Defend Her Honor' Game for the Wolverines.'
Other fans, however, were disappointed that the team's social media page buckled under the scrutiny of Swift's avid fanbase.
'Due to swifties causing the page to delete this post, it is our responsibility as Husker fans to make sure this post doesn't die,' one diehard Nebraska supporter posted, sharing the image.

The couple announced their plans to get married in a social media post earlier this week
Another said: 'The Huskers account... Cowards for taking the Taylor Swift tweet down.'
Swift and Kelce finally announced their engagement on Tuesday, sharing a joint-post to Instagram with the caption: 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married'.
Their appearace at Thursday's game was their first one in public since the news came out.
Next week, Kelce is heading to Brazil with his Chiefs team for the start of the 2025 NFL season.
The Chiefs meet divisional rivals Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5 before returning to Arrowhead the following Sunday for a Super Bowl rematch against Philadelphia Eagles, the standout game of Week 2.
Swift is expected to be back at Arrowhead for that game in Week 2, with Kelce back on the field instead of being a spectator.
