TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - With the Israeli government having approved the first phase of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas on the early morning of October 10, 2025, the exchange of Israeli captives and prisoners with Palestinian prisoners is set to take place in the coming days.
The Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, has expressed its readiness to release all Israeli hostages still alive and hand over the bodies of those deceased in accordance with the Trump plan.
They will also participate in discussions about the future of the Gaza Strip within the framework of a cross-Palestinian structure.
Hamas now has 72 hours since the Israeli government approved the deal to return 20 captives still alive, meaning the release is likely to take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, or Monday, October 13, 2025.
After that, Hamas will return the bodies of the 28 prisoners who have died, although the schedule is currently unclear.
Below are the names of the live captives expected to be released from Gaza as reported by USA Today:
Matan Angrest, 22 years old
Matan Angrest, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier, became a prisoner of war from Kibbutz Nahal Oz in an attack on October 7, 2023. His mother, Anat Angrest, is among the dozens of remaining family members of hostages who have boldly advocated for their release.
"Our loved ones in Gaza are being bombarded by the IDF under the orders of the prime minister," she said.

Israeli Captives' Bodies Still Being Sought
Hamas added that it will take at least 10 days to find the bodies of the hostages and deceased Israeli captives, as reported by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
At the same time, as reported by Antara, Israeli officials believe that it will be difficult for Hamas to find all the remaining hostages' bodies, and the process may take more than 10 days.
US President Donald Trump acknowledged that efforts to find some of the hostages' bodies held in Gaza would be "a little bit hard."
He noted that there are about 28 people who have died and are still in the Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of a Gaza peace agreement, agreeing for Hamas to release Israeli hostages and for Israel to withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip.
Indirect talks between Hamas and Israel delegations mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey have been ongoing in Egypt since Monday.
On September 29, Trump announced a 20-point plan to resolve the Gaza conflict. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages within 72 hours.
On October 3, Hamas stated it had agreed to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian committee based on national consensus.
