TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin proposed that Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, the Head of Education and Training at the Attorney General's Office, assume the position of Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum). Burhanuddin submitted the proposal to President Prabowo Subianto with a copy to the Cabinet Secretary on July 13, 2026.
In the same letter, Burhanuddin also proposed the current Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes, Asep Nana Mulyana, as the definitive Vice Attorney General. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the proposal of several high-ranking officials of the Attorney General's Office. "Yes, but I'm sorry, we don't remember every name and position. Later, when the results have been decided, we will definitely convey them to the media and to the public," said Prasetyo, as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
There are five names proposed to fill high positions in the Attorney General's Office. Apart from Asep Nana Mulyana and Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, Burhanuddin also proposed the Head of Asset Recovery at the Attorney General's Office, Kuntadi, as the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). Furthermore, the Head of the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office, Patris Yusrian Jaya, was proposed to become the Head of the Asset Recovery Agency replacing Kuntadi. Meanwhile, the position of the Head of Education and Training, which will be vacated by Leonard, was proposed to be filled by Inspector III at the Deputy Attorney General for Oversight, Harli Siregar.
A high-ranking official from the Attorney General's Office confirmed the proposal of those names. This official was aware of the letter. "Yes, there is the letter. I knew about it last night," said the official on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Track Record of Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak
Leonard is a career prosecutor who has held several strategic positions in the Attorney General's Office. His name became known to the public when he served as the Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General's Office from 2020 to 2022. In that position, he became the spokesperson for the institution when the Attorney General's Office handled several major cases, such as alleged corruption in PT Asuransi Jiwasraya, PT Asabri, and the satellite project of the Ministry of Defense.
After nearly two years as Kapuspenkum, the Attorney General appointed Leonard as the Head of the Banten High Prosecutor's Office. He was promoted again in January 2023 to become the head of the South Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office. In that region, Leonard oversaw the handling of general and special criminal cases and strengthened internal supervision within the prosecutor's office.
Leonard then returned to the Attorney General's Office as a Special Staff to the Attorney General for Inter-Institutional Relations and International Cooperation. In October 2025, Burhanuddin inaugurated him as the Head of the Education and Training of the Attorney General's Office. In that position, Leonard was responsible for formulating policies on the education, training, and competency development of prosecutors and officials of the Attorney General's Office.
If President Prabowo Subianto approves the proposal for Attorney General, Leonard will replace Asep Nana Mulyana as Jampidum. This position oversees the handling of general criminal cases from the pre-investigation stage through the execution of court decisions.
Leonard's Wealth According to LHKPN
Based on the State Official Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted in 2025, Leonard has a total wealth of Rp2.6 billion. The assets are mainly in the form of land and buildings worth Rp1.5 billion, in the form of a piece of land and a building measuring 188 square meters / 300 square meters in South Jakarta.
In addition, Leonard owns a 2008 Nissan Grand Livina minibus worth Rp45 million and a 2017 Honda car worth Rp250 million. He also reported other movable assets worth Rp63 million, cash and equivalent cash of Rp810 million, and other assets. The total wealth he reported reached Rp2.6 billion.
