TEMPO.CO, JakartaPT Kereta Api Cepat Indonesia (KCIC) is preparing 173,000 Whoosh high-speed train seats to anticipate the long weekend in Indonesia from January 24 to 29, 2025, providing flexibility for passengers to plan their trips safely and comfortably.

The high-speed rail will operate as many as 48 Whoosh schedules per day to anticipate the surge in passengers during the holiday, with 28 thousand Whoosh seats reserved for those planning a trip this weekend.

Customers are welcome to book Whoosh tickets through online channels such as the Whoosh app, ticket.kcic.co.id website, and partner sites such as KAI Access, Livin’ Mandiri, Brimo, BNI Wondr, and tiket.com.

Passengers can also book the tickets directly at ticket vending machines at Whoosh stations.

KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa predicts that the average passenger volume will reach more than 20 thousand per day during this holiday. Passenger surge is expected to start on Friday, the last workday before the long weekend starts.

“As many as 50,000 tickets are booked for January 224 to 29 thus far. The figure is expected to rise as sales are ongoing,” Eva said in a written statement on Friday, January 24, 2025.

KCIC also launches a special edition Frequent Whoosher Card to welcome the Chinese New Year, with a ‘Year of the Snake’ themed card. The limited edition cards come with a design that incorporates the uniqueness and beauty of traditional motifs. The subscription card is available starting January 24, 2025, at the counters of Whoosh stations. As the number is limited, customers are advised to get their hands on it as soon as possible before it runs out.

With the Frequent Whoosher Card, passengers can enjoy 10 Premium Economy class Whoosh trips at a flat fare even during peak hours or on holidays and weekends. Frequent Whoosher Cards can be purchased for Rp1,750,000 at Whoosh Station counters, namely Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon.

Tickets obtained from Frequent Whoosher Card quota redemption cannot be canceled or rescheduled and are not transferable. The validity period of the card is 30 days from the date of purchase, and if the card expires, the remaining travel quota cannot be used or cashed out.

As of January 2025, 850 cards have been sold. In total, since the initial sale in June 2024, KCIC has sold 4,300 Frequent Whoosher Cards.

Eva said KCIC commits to providing the best service to passengers, especially in the face of a long holiday season. “KCIC has prepared various aspects to ensure that all Whoosh trips during the long holiday season are safe, comfortable, and enjoyable. From increasing seating capacity, offering attractive discounts, to various attractions at the station, we want to make the passengers' vacation more memorable.” Eva said.
