Wolves have confirmed Vitor Pereira's sacking with a 188-word statement released on Sunday afternoon.

Daily Mail Sport revealed in the morning that the Premier League club had decided to part ways with the Portuguese manager after a disastrous start to the season that has seen them fail to win any of their 10 Premier League matches so far.

Pereira's final game in charge was on Saturday as his side lost 3-0 at Fulham, which was compounded by Emmanuel Agbadou's first-half red card.

The decision comes in a drastic change of events for Wolves and Pereira - who only signed a new three-year contact at the club 45 days ago on September 18.

And in a statement on their website, that is placed below Saturday's match report, Wolves explained why they have axed the 57-year-old.

'Wolves have parted company with head coach Vitor Pereira, after a winless start to the 2025-26 season,' it begins.

Wolves have released a 188-word statement on the reasons behind sacking Vitor Pereira

His final game in charge saw Wolves lose 3-0 at Fulham on Saturday and finish it with 10 men

Wolves chief Jeff Shi thanked Pereira and his coaching staff within the club's statement

'Upon his arrival at Molineux last December, Pereira and his coaches made an immediate impact, guiding the team to a successful second half of the Premier League campaign.

'However, results and performances this term have fallen below acceptable standards, and as a result a change in leadership was deemed necessary.

'All eight of Pereira’s backroom staff have also left the club.

'Under-21 head coach James Collins and under-18 head coach Richard Walker will take training while the club finalise the appointment of a new first-team head coach.'

The statement ends with words from executive chairman Jeff Shi who thanked Pereira and his coaching staff for their efforts but he couldn't look past the club's results.

'Vitor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped guide us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful,' Shi said.

'Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment and, despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find an improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change.

'We thank Vitor and his staff for their efforts and wish them the very best for the future.'
