TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah has reported that a total of 10,060 Umrah pilgrims have arrived in Indonesia amidst the escalating conflict in the Middle East. This figure represents the number of pilgrims who successfully landed in the country since the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
"The total number of pilgrims who have returned from February 28, 2026, to March 3, 2026, is 10,060," said the Technical Staff of the Hajj Affairs at the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, Muhammad Ilham Effendy, in a press release on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
In addition, Ilham stated that there are another 2,278 pilgrims who will soon follow. These thousands of pilgrims have arranged to return through King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah.
Ilham added that the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah will ensure that the repatriation of Umrah pilgrims to Indonesia is closely supervised and supported. "This is part of the country's commitment to ensure maximum protection for all pilgrims," he said.
On the other hand, although the majority of pilgrims have returned according to schedule, there are still 300 pilgrims experiencing flight delays. "These pilgrims are scattered in the cities of Jeddah and Mecca, facing main challenges in connecting flights and coordinating visas and transit flights," said Ilham.
He mentioned that the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, through the Technical Team of Hajj Affairs, continues to coordinate with airlines to ensure the certainty of departure schedules. The consulate also ensures the provision of provisions and basic needs for pilgrims still awaiting flights.
Ilham assured that they will continue to communicate with travel agents and visa sponsors to expedite administrative processes. To anticipate the potential backlog of pilgrims, monitoring is also conducted 24 hours a day.
