This article reveals the 11 most Christian countries in the world according to the data published by the World Population Review and Insider Monkey:

1. United States

At least around 230 million Christians are occupying the United States, making it the most Christian country in the world. The data demonstrates a total of 71% of the entire population deemed as Christians. Despite having a paramount fall in number from the nation’s 1990 of 90%, Christianity still leads the pack in the United States.

2. Brazil

Brazil is the second-most Christian country in the world, with over 180 million of the entire population identified as Christians. Matter of fact, Christianity has continued to be the nation’s most followed religion since the 16th century. At least 90% of Brazilian citizens are adhering to Christian practices.

3. Mexico

Mexico has a population of 107 million people perceived as Christians. The percentage of Christians in the country reaches 92.4% of the entire population, with 82.7% being identified as Catholics.

4. Nigeria

The percentage of Christians in Nigeria is considered half of the population, or around 49%. The religion was first introduced in the 15th century and has consistently been practiced by the majority of residents. It’s recorded that over 88 million people in Nigeria are following Christianity, with 12% of them identified as Catholics and 36% perceived as Protestants and other Christian denominations.

5. Philippines

The Philippines is the only Southeast Asian country on the list of most Christian countries due to several reasons. Some argue this is prominently caused by the Spanish Catholic reign in the region for more than 300 years. 

Best known as the only Christian nation in Asia, the Philippines has a percentage of Christians touching the base of 85%. Additionally, over 86 million residents are firm believers in Christianity, particularly Catholicism.

6. Russia

Russia ranks as the most Christian country in the world, with approximately 80 million people identifying as Christians. According to Britannica, the Russian Orthodox Church is the world’s largest autocephalous Eastern Orthodox. At least 65% of the entire population is following Christianity. 

Christianity was first introduced by Greek missionaries from Byzantium into the East Slavic of Kievan Rus in the 9th century.

7. Democratic Republic of Congo

A staggering number of 92% of Christians exist in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Around 63 million people in the country are identified as Christians. The dominance of Christianity is reflected in its first emergence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1491.

8. Italy

Italy boasts a fairly high percentage of Christians that reaches 83% of a total population. The number of Christians in the country is above 53 million. Rome itself is a respected area that has a rich history in the creation of Western Christianity.

9. Ethiopia

Citing from Insider Monkey, Ethiopia is the world’s second oldest Christian country. Christianity was reportedly first introduced back in the 4th century. Today, the percentage of Christians in Ethiopia reaches 64% of the total population, with more than 52 million people following the religion’s practices.

10. China

China has been considered one of the most populated countries in the world, with over 1.4 billion people residing. This is the prominent reason why China is among the most Christian countries, despite the religion being a minority. 

With just three percent of the entire population, or around 48 million people, adhering to Christianity in recent times.

11. Germany

Germany closes the list of the most Christian countries in the world, supporting over 46 million Christians residing in the nation. This number is estimated to be half of the entire population, or around 56%. 

This most Christian countries list is mostly occupied by countries from Europe, with only two Asian countries existing.
