A total of 4,531 combined security personnel consisting of the police force and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) are guarding a labor demonstration held in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) Building in Central Jakarta today, Thursday, August 28, 2025. "For the security of tomorrow's demonstration, the Jakarta Metro Police have prepared 4,531 personnel," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Ade Ary Syam Indradi, to reporters on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
The combined thousands of personnel consist of 2,174 Jakarta Metro Police members and 1,725 personnel Under the Operational Control of the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri), TNI, Brimob Mabes Polri, to the Public Order Police (Satpol PP), and the Department of Transportation. In addition, district police will also dispatch 632 personnel.
The police are preparing for traffic engineering that will be carried out situationally to maintain the smooth flow of public activities. "If a large number of people are present and using the road in front of the DPR, then traffic will be diverted," said Ade Ary. However, he continued, if sharing the road is still possible, no diversion will be made.
Ade Ary explained that the police are also anticipating potential disruptions on the Inner City Toll Road. Vehicles will be immediately redirected to avoid getting stuck in the midst of the crowd. Traffic diversion points are prepared at the toll road exits in front of the Jakarta Metro Police, Tegal Parang exit, and Slipi exit from the west.
He urges the labor demonstrators to express their opinions in an orderly manner. "We ask the laborers to maintain order, to express their aspirations peacefully, in accordance with the rules. Let's not engage in anarchic actions that will only result in harm," he said.
To the general public, the police, according to Ade, ask to find alternative routes and to follow the latest information through the official account of the Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Management Center (TMC). "We apologize if there will be traffic diversions later that cause discomfort. This step is solely to maintain security, safety, and smoothness together," he said.
Around 3,000 demonstrators are expected to start filling Gatot Subroto Street at 09:00 AM to demonstrate in front of the DPR Building. The demonstrators consist of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers' Unions (KSPSI), the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers' Unions (KSBSI), and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Union Unity (KPBI).
The President of the Labor Party, Said Iqbal, ensures that the laborers will conduct a peaceful demonstration. He promised that the labor demonstrators will be orderly and non-anarchic. "I appeal that on August 28, the demonstration must be peaceful, orderly, with no disturbances, and no violence," said Said in his statement on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
