A world design and architecture award, Prix Versailles, ranks a row of buildings, from museums to airports, with stunning architecture. There are six airports from around the world that won the title, and two of them are from Southeast Asia.
As reported by the official Prix Versailles website, Timeout Travel, and several other sources, here are the six most beautiful airports in the world that dazzle with their architectural beauty and world-class facilities.
List of the Most Beautiful Airports in the World 2024
1. Abu Dhabi International Airport
Abu Dhabi International Airport, also known as Abu Dhabi International Airport, was crowned as the most beautiful airport in the world in 2024 according to Prix Versailles. This airport carries a futuristic design, with its X-shaped structure being a unique element of Zayed International Airport.
Aside from offering stunning views, Zayed International Airport, designed by American architect Kohn Pederson Fox, is also equipped with a shopping center featuring famous brands such as Gucci and Hermes, as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald. The available restaurants offer a variety of delicious cuisines, including Middle Eastern specialties.
2. Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok
Bangkok is not only famous for its temples and night markets, but also for Suvarnabhumi International Airport with its stunning design. Specifically, the Midfield Satellite 1 terminal received a special award for its exquisite exterior that reflects the nuances of Thailand.
As described by Timeout Travel, travelers are greeted with various exotic ornaments, including Kohn masks, puppet theaters, and traditional Thai kites, when they step into this terminal section.
3. Changi International Airport, Singapore
It's no surprise to see the name Changi Airport on this list. Singapore's pride airport received a special award for the best interior design for its Terminal 2, which had previously been renovated.
As reported by Timeout Travel, Terminal 2 features a natural theme with a soothing view. Travelers stroll while admiring the pillars and blocks adorned with plants. Don't miss The Wonderfall, the latest feature of Changi Airport which showcases a 14-meter digital waterfall.
4. Felipe Angeles International Airport, Zumpango
The next most beautiful airport in the world is Felipe Angeles International Airport located in Mexico. This distinguished title was awarded to the airport due to its combination of modern design and touches of Mexican art and culture.
Mexico News Daily reported that one of the highlights is the sun stone installed in the middle of the terminal. This feature is considered to be able to exhibit iconography inspired by culture and tradition.
In addition, Prix Versailles also praised the skill of Felipe Angeles Airport in maximizing natural lighting in the entrance area and presenting green areas through its 4,300 m2 central garden.
5. Logan International Airport, Boston
As the global gateway to Massachusetts and New England, Logan International Airport became one of the most beautiful airports in the world in 2024, especially for Terminal E. It is worth noting that this airport based in East Boston offers flights to more than 100 domestic and international destinations.
6. Kansas City International Airport
Finally, Kansas City International Airport was selected as one of the most beautiful airports in the world in 2024 for the "World Selection" category.
