TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 91,962 people, or 24,426 families, across Aceh remain in evacuation centers following the devastating floods and landslides that struck at the end of November 2025. They are scattered across 988 refugee points in various regencies and cities throughout the province.

The figures are based on the latest update from the Aceh Hydrometeorological Disaster Emergency Response Post as of Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026. Murthalamuddin, the spokesperson for the response post, stated that North Aceh Regency recorded the highest displacement figures, with 33,261 individuals or 9,242 families seeking shelter across 210 evacuation sites.

Following North Aceh, Gayo Lues Regency reports 18,944 displaced persons (5,571 families) across seven locations. Meanwhile, Pidie Jaya is housing 14,794 people (4,037 families) distributed among 38 refugee points.

In Aceh Tamiang, 6,052 people (707 families) remain displaced across 513 sites, followed by Aceh Tengah with 5,306 people (1,075 families) in 61 locations, and Bireuen with 4,897 people (1,397 families) across 59 evacuation centers.

Other regions still managing refugee populations include Aceh Timur with 3,862 people (1,056 families) in 53 sites, Nagan Raya with 2,472 people (817 families) in six locations, and Bener Meriah with 2,116 individuals across 39 refugee points.

Additionally, Pidie Regency reported 137 displaced persons (30 families) at two sites, while Lhokseumawe City currently houses 119 refugees (37 families).

Murthalamuddin emphasized that local governments are working tirelessly to ensure that the basic needs of all evacuees are met. "The distribution of logistics, the operation of public kitchens, and cross-sector coordination are being continuously strengthened to ensure the welfare of those displaced is well served," he said.

He further noted that of the 18 affected regencies and cities, seven areas, namely South Aceh, Subulussalam, Langsa, West Aceh, Singkil Aceh, Southeast Aceh, and Greater Aceh, no longer have active evacuation points.

In total, the catastrophic Sumatra floods and landslides in Aceh have impacted 2,584,067 people, or 670,826 families. The disaster has left 561 people dead, and 30 others remain missing.
