The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul celebrated the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia with a diplomatic reception on November 1, 2024. Ad-interim chargé d'affaires (KUAI RI Seoul) Zelda Wulan Kartika emphasized the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to strengthen bilateral ties with South Korea, particularly in areas like people-to-people exchange and regional stability.
To foster stronger cultural relations, the Embassy honored South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook as a "Korean Friend of Indonesia". His contributions to promoting Indonesian tourism and culture were recognized, and he was presented with a traditional batik shirt as a token of appreciation.
The reception featured a diverse cultural program, including performances of the traditional Benggong dance from East Nusa Tenggara and the Gita Cita Nusantara dance, which showcased various Indonesian ethnic dances. Guests were also treated to a culinary journey through Indonesia, with a variety of traditional dishes and a display of Indonesian arts and crafts.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Kim Taejin, reaffirmed South Korea's commitment to the strategic partnership with Indonesia. Both countries aim to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, and sports.
The reception, attended by over 200 guests, marked the culmination of various events organized by the Indonesian Embassy to celebrate the anniversary.
Earlier this year, the Embassy hosted the Indonesian Festival at Cheonggye Plaza, showcasing Indonesian arts, culture, and products. Additionally, the Embassy held a Flag Ceremony and Independence Day Party with the Indonesian diaspora in South Korea.
