TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Attorney General's Office has named Brigadier General Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan, Deputy Secretary for Promotion and Cooperation at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), as a suspect. He is suspected of corruption involving irregularities in the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

Syarief Sulaiman Nahdi, Director of Investigations for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office, stated that Lalu Muhammad Iwan had been named a suspect some time ago. "And he has been detained," Syarief said on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Syarief explained that Lalu had asked witnesses YCS and RD to establish a company in 2025. Lalu asked both of them to sell food trays to potential partners of the kitchen or the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).

According to Syarief, the food trays were sold at a price determined by Lalu. "So, that price included a share for LMI," Syarief said at a press conference at the Attorney General's Office in Jakarta.

Previously, prosecutors had named six suspects in the alleged corruption case surrounding MBG's governance. They included former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and his two deputies, Sony Sanjaya Lodewyk Pusung.

The Attorney General's Office has also named Asep Yusuf Somantri, a close associate of Sony, as a suspect. Meanwhile, the other two suspects are Andri Mulyono, Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (PT YAT), the supplier of BGN electric motorcycles, and Glory Harimas Sihombing, Chair of the Indonesia Food Security Review (IFSR) Foundation.
