TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has warned regional heads attending the retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang not to engage in corruption.
Burhanuddin conveyed this message when speaking at the event held on Tuesday night, February 25, 2025.
Burhanuddin emphasized the importance of regional heads refraining from any actions that could harm state finances. He stressed that corruption not only harms the state but also hinders progress.
"Basically, it's just a reminder not to commit corruption. That's it. If you do, I'll take action," said Burhanuddin to the media at the Military Academy in Magelang, as quoted from an official statement by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto also delivered lectures at the regional head development program last night. Listyo said that addressing issues of public concern is a key focus for the police.
"Because this impacts investment, both domestically and internationally," he said.
Setyo highlighted the need for regional heads to have an anti-corruption stance. Because they have a great responsibility to the people, in driving economic growth, trade, and food self-sufficiency.
Regional heads arrived at the Magelang Military Academy complex for the retreat on Friday night, February 21, 2025, one day after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. The opening ceremony was conducted the following day by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.
The regional head retreat is scheduled to conclude on Friday, February 28, 2025. By the fifth day, 493 out of 503 regional heads had attended the retreat.
