TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman found that the content of MinyaKita cooking oil did not match the measurements listed on the packaging. The finding was made by Amran during a surprise inspection at Pasar Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Pasar Lenteng Agung is located on Jalan Raya Jagakarsa, Kelurahan Jagakarsa, Jagakarsa District. Amran toured the market and conducted an inspection to directly observe the market's condition.
During the inspection, Minister Amran found that MinyaKita was being sold above the Maximum Retail Price (HET) of Rp15,700 per liter, but was being sold for Rp18,000.
In addition, the Minister also found that the content of the MinyaKita packaging did not match what was stated on the label, containing only 750 to 800 milliliters.
"Clearly, this is not 1 liter," he said.
To prove the volume, Andi Amran immediately conducted a measurement of the cooking oil by purchasing the product from the traders in the market.
After that, he instructed his staff who were part of the inspection to measure using a 1-liter measuring glass, witnessed by police officers from the Food Task Force.
As a result, from the measurement that was carried out, it was found that the cooking oil only reached the 0.75 to 0.8 liter mark. However, there were also other packaging that had the correct 1-liter size.
He expressed his disappointment because the finding occurred during the holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims are focused on fasting.
"Our siblings are seeking blessings in the month of Ramadan, but instead are committing a sin with this action," he continued.
Previously, a viral video on social media showed that the content of 1-liter MinyaKita was not in accordance with the measurements listed on the packaging. The video showed that the 1-liter MinyaKita package actually only contained 0.75 liters or 750 milliliters.
However, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso stated that the viral video was an old case. According to Budi, the producer who packaged MinyaKita with less than 1 liter has been dealt with by law enforcement. "So it might be an old video, but we have also reported it to the police," said Budi during a press conference at Sarinah, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Budi even guaranteed that there are no longer 1-liter MinyaKita packages with contents that do not match the measurements listed on the packaging. "They are no longer in circulation," he said. He does not want the public to doubt MinyaKita currently being sold in the market. "The others are normal, yes. One liter is normal," Budi emphasized.
Previously, a user on social media showed how the MinyaKita they bought only contained 750 milliliters of cooking oil when poured into a measuring glass. "Be careful, I am one of the victims. Bought MinyaKita labeled 1 liter but when poured, it's only 750 ml. Bought it at the price of 1 liter," wrote the TikTok account @miepejuang on Monday, March 3, 2025.
