TEMPO.COJakarta - AirAsia Aviation Group confirmed that its flight operations have returned to normal following the Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on Friday, November 28, 2025. AirAsia confirmed that the requirements of the EAD have been fully completed.

"AirAsia teams across the region worked simultaneously to meet all technical, operational, safety, and customer experience requirements to minimize disruption to passengers," said AirAsia Aviation Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bo Lingam on AirAsia's official website on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Lingam stated all regulatory requirements were met within 24 hours, with the assistance of technicians from Asia Digital Engineering. The resolution process was carried out through cross-departmental coordination, including Engineering, Flight Operations, Network, Ground Operations, and Customer Experience in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

AirAsia will monitor developments and ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers. Previously, Indonesia AirAsia also confirmed that its Airbus A320 aircraft remained [Change: Past tense for an earlier statement] airworthy and safe for operation.

AirAsia Aviation Group began the rollback process for certain software components starting on November 29, 2025. Indonesia AirAsia Acting President Director Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman stated that verification results confirmed that the specific software components subject to the EASA EAD were not incorporated on Indonesia AirAsia aircraft.

"Therefore, all Indonesia AirAsia aircraft are deemed airworthy and safe to operate, and do not require a software rollback process," Achmad Sadikin said on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The EASA Warning and Airbus Response

Previously, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued an alert to address a vulnerability introduced in a software update to one of its onboard computers. The issue was initially identified on JetBlue flight 1230 on October 30, 2025, when the A320 aircraft experienced a sudden drop in altitude due to technical difficulties.

Airbus stated that intense solar radiation can damage data critical to flight control functions. A number of currently operating A320 aircraft may be affected.

The French aircraft manufacturer is coordinating with aviation authorities to request immediate precautionary measures from operators via Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) to protect existing software and/or hardware and ensure the safety of the fleet.

"Airbus acknowledges that this recommendation will cause operational disruption for passengers and customers," Airbus wrote on its official website on Thursday, November 28, 2025.

Airbus apologized for the inconvenience caused by this discovery. Airbus will work closely with operators and continue to maintain safe flights.
