TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nine Indonesian players advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2025 after a strong showing in Thursday’s round of 16 on November 20, while two others saw their runs end. All remaining representatives will compete for semifinal spots on Friday.

Men’s singles shuttler Alwi Farhan was the first to secure a place in the last eight. Playing the opening match on Court 1 at Sydney Olympic Park, the 20-year-old eighth seed defeated India’s veteran Prannoy H. S. in straight games. The win marked a confident performance against an opponent 13 years his senior.

In women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani, the second seed, progressed after dispatching Taiwan’s Wen Chi Hsu.

Indonesia also swept all three of its men’s doubles matches. The pairs Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and Raymond Indra / Nikolaus Joaquin each booked quarterfinal berths.

In women’s doubles, three Indonesian teams advanced: Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadila Silva Ramadhanti, and Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum. The pair Lanny Tria Mayasari / Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, however, fell short.

Indonesia’s mixed doubles campaign produced split results. Second seeds Jafar Hidaytullah / Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu clinched a quarterfinal spot, while eighth seeds Adnan Maulana / Indah Cahya Sari Jamil were eliminated.

Among Friday’s highlights, two Indonesian women’s doubles teams (Apriyani/Fadia and Rachel/Febi) will face each other for a place in the semifinals, guaranteeing at least one Indonesian pair in the final four.
