TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono targets that all offices and residences in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, will be ready for use in December 2024.
"So, the offices must be ready by this December, and God willing, everything will be ready," said Basuki during the 23rd Congress of the Indonesian Engineers Association in Yogyakarta on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Basuki mentioned that by the end of this year, the coordinating ministry office consisting of 16 towers is ready, and the residential buildings consisting of 47 towers are also ready.
In addition to office buildings and residences, Basuki mentioned that supporting facilities in IKN have also been prepared, starting from restaurants, cafes, laundries, to barbershops. "So, we have prepared everything there," he said.
Basuki stated that there are still many things that need to be resolved in IKN, both physical and non-physical developments, so the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) will have to play a significant role.
"The development of IKN is not only about physical development, but also non-physical aspects. For example, we have to organize the Sepaku area, it's not just about engineering, but the socio-engineering aspect needs to be stronger. Because we also have to consider the community," he said.
He admitted that there are several regions in IKN that have low support for clay shale soil, so special treatment is needed to make the land more solid.
Minister of Public Works Mentions Prabowo Targets to Have Office at IKN Starting August 17, 2028
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that President Prabowo Subianto is targeting to have an office at IKN starting on August 17, 2028.
"At the latest, on August 17, 2029. The executive, legislative, and judiciary, along with all civil servants, will (move) there," Dody said at the Ministry of Public Works on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Dody mentioned that there is a potential delay in the construction of IKN because the government is focusing on other programs, such as the food self-sufficiency program. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Works is currently focused on providing water for agriculture.
Nevertheless, Dody is optimistic that the development of IKN will not deviate too far from the target. Referring to the IKN planning timeline, the construction of the new capital city in East Kalimantan will be carried out in 5 stages until 2045. The development initiated during President Joko Widodo's era is estimated to require a budget of IDR 466 trillion.
