TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Donald Trump for currently leading Kamala Harris in the quick count of the United States Presidential Election.

"Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!" Netanyahu said via X on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Netanyahu also expressed his hope to Trump for Israel and the U.S. to enhance cooperation.

"Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America," he said.

Similar support was expressed by Israel's Minister of National Defense, Itamar Ben-Gvir. He offered prayers for Trump.

"Yes! God bless Trump," Ben-Gvir said on his social media platform X.

Previously, Donald Trump showcased his close relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu, when he hosted the Prime Minister at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida resort, on Friday, July 26, 2024. Trump also stated that U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris made "disrespectful" remarks about Gaza after Harris urged Netanyahu to quickly reach a ceasefire agreement.

Netanyahu met with Trump a day after having discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden and Harris. Trump criticized Harris, who firmly voiced her concerns about the high number of Palestinian civilians killed in Israel's military operation in Gaza that has been ongoing since October 7, 2023. "I think her remarks were disrespectful," said Trump, as reported by Reuters.
