TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An explosion at a gas station has sparked a massive fire in central Yemen, killing at least 15 people, health officials said Sunday.

The blast occurred Saturday in the Zaher district of Bayda province, the Houthi-run Health Ministry said in a statement. At least 67 others were wounded, including 40 in critical condition.

The ministry said rescuers were searching for those reported missing. It was not immediately clear what caused the blast.

Footage circulating online showed a massive fire sending columns of smoke into the sky and charred and burning vehicles.

Bayda is controlled by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who have been fighting Yemen’s internationally recognized government for more than a decade.

A Saudi-led coalition entered the war in March 2015, backed by the United States at the time.

The war has killed more than 150,000 people including civilians and fighters, and in recent years has largely deteriorated into a stalemate and led to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
