TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that most regions in Indonesia have entered the transition season from the rainy season to the dry season, known as "pancaroba." During this transition season, the BMKG will continue to issue early warnings for heavy rainfall accompanied by sudden thunderstorms.
"BMKG urges the public to remain vigilant towards the potential occurrence of extreme weather during the pancaroba, such as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms, and tornadoes," the early warning stated, as quoted from the Weekly Weather Outlook for the Period of 8-14 April 2025 released by the BMKG's Public Meteorology Directorate.
According to BMKG's data, around 403 Transition Season Zones, or approximately 57.7 percent of the regions in Indonesia, are predicted to start entering the dry season from April to June. This condition indicates that most areas of Indonesia are currently in the transition period from the rainy season to the dry season.
"During this period, rainfall generally occurs from noon to late evening, preceded by warm air in the morning to afternoon, causing the atmosphere to become unstable," explained BMKG.
Areas such as North Sumatra, East Java, East Kalimantan, and the Papua highlands have the potential for heavy rainfall from April 8-14. Meanwhile, according to BMKG, West Java and Central Java are among those with the potential for heavy rain from April 11-14.
Other areas, such as Aceh, South Sumatra, and West Nusa Tenggara, have the potential for heavy rainfall from April 8-10.
