TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that the weather in Jakarta will be mostly cloudy from morning to evening today, Friday, January 3, 2025. Several areas in DKI will only experience rain showers tonight.
Referring to the weather forecast issued by BMKG at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, almost all areas in Jakarta would be cloudy in the early hours of this morning. Light rain will fall only on the Seribu Islands.
From 7 a.m. until noon today, the weather would be cloudy all over Jakarta. The air temperature would be around 25-31 degrees Celsius, while the humidity would be around 70-95 percent. The wind is blowing from the northwest at a speed of 10-30 kilometers per hour.
Light rain would likely fall from around 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in South Jakarta and East Jakarta. During this time, other areas of Jakarta will be cloudy.
The government has previously reduced the intensity of wet weather in Jakarta, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Weather engineering has reportedly reduced rainfall on December 25-31, 2024. Except for December 27, the government conducted a weather modification operation for six days, for exactly 19 hours and 36 minutes.
Jakarta Acting Governor, Teguh Setyabudi, said 8,000 kilograms of salt or sodium chloride were sown into the clouds. "This operation reduced rainfall by 20 percent according to the Global Forecast System (GFS) and 38 percent according to the Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMap) data," he said in a written statement on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
