Carlo Ancelotti Extends Brazil Tenure to 2030 World Cup

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has officially extended Carlo Ancelotti's contract as coach of the Brazilian national team until the 2030 World Cup.

"The continuation of Ancelotti's tenure as coach of the Brazilian national team, the most successful team in world football history, reflects not only the CBF's support for the coach's work, but also the trust he has earned from the squad and Brazilian fans since his arrival at the end of May 2025," the CBF said in a statement on its website on Thursday, May 14.

The decision confirms the federation's full support for the Italian coach after one year in charge of the Selecao.

"I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the first minute, I understood what football means to this country," said Ancelotti.

During his time in charge of Brazil, Ancelotti has been considered a key figure in strengthening the foundations of national football. The 66-year-old coach worked closely with various departments at the CBF to build stability and identity for the team's game.

Ancelotti also expressed his appreciation to the Brazilian public for their support over the past year.

"I want to thank the CBF for their trust. Thank you, Brazil, for the warm welcome and for all the affection," said the former Real Madrid coach.

CBF President Samir Xaud welcomed the move and called Ancelotti's contract extension a key part of the long-term project of Brazilian football.

"Today is a historic day for the CBF and Brazilian football. Carlo Ancelotti's contract extension is another step in our commitment to providing an increasingly solid, modern, and competitive structure for the five-time world champion national team," said Samir Xaud.

He added that the CBF continues to strive to keep Brazil at the highest level of world football, including through the development of other national teams, domestic competitions, and the strengthening of clubs and federations across the country.

Ancelotti was appointed coach of the Brazil national team in May 2025. In his first year with the Brazilian national team, he led the team to 10 matches, with a record of five wins, two draws, and three losses. Under his guidance, Brazil scored 18 goals and conceded eight.

He is now preparing to lead Brazil at the 2026 World Cup. The South American giants are in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland.
