TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ancol Tourism Park has prepared 55 water pumps in anticipation of coastal flooding during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2025, which may inconvenience visitors. "There are a total of 29 pump chambers with 55 pumps," Ancol Taman Impian Public Relations Manager Ariyadi Eko Nugroho told Tempo via text message on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
In coordination with related agencies, Ancol Tourism Park is monitoring the conditions of sea tides. "We are also optimizing the lifeguard team and area loudspeakers to appeal to visitors to do recreational activities in comfortable areas," he said.
According to Ariyadi, the Ancol tide usually starts in the morning when it is high, and around 11 o'clock at noon, the sea water gradually recedes. This happened in mid-December when the maximum tide hit many areas along the northern coast of Java.
Meanwhile, on December 25, the recreational park recorded that 10,700 vehicles entered the Ancol Dreamland area, consisting of 6,000 cars and 4,700 motorcycles. The total number of visitors that day reached 30,000 people.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of the possibility of tidal flooding in North Jakarta from December 26, 2024, to January 3, 2025. This information is based on BMKG's Class I Tanjung Priok Marine Meteorological Station analysis.
"The phenomenon of maximum seawater tides coinciding with the new moon phase has the potential to increase the height of maximum seawater tides in the form of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal areas of Jakarta," the BMKG wrote via its official Instagram @bmkgpriok on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
