TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Cititrans Busline, a division of Blue Bird, plans to add its fleet by more than double the current number. This step is taken to anticipate the surge in the number of passengers during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holiday seasons.
Cititrans VP Commercial, Justinus Kezia, stated that they currently have 10 inter-provincial city-to-city (AKAP) fleets with Indonesian Standards (SNI). "This increase will definitely be significant as we can see the dates as well, Christmas falls in the middle of the week, followed by the weekend," he said when met in Surabaya on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Justinus hopes that the addition of this fleet will increase occupancy. In addition, the two-week Christmas and New Year holiday season is expected to increase the number of passengers. He stated that the primary goal is to achieve an occupancy rate of up to 100 percent. "Also, this is a push, because maybe these 2 weeks are really holidays, so we expect a pretty drastic increase," he added.
In terms of routes, Justinus plans to launch the Bandung to Malang route and the Malang to Yogyakarta route. According to him, both cities have high mobility potential that needs to be supported by additional transportation services. In addition, the company will also introduce a new route from Jakarta to Central Java, which is expected to be launched in December 2024.
"With the addition of these new units, we can also introduce the Bandung-Malang route. The Bandung-Malang route means Bandung-Semarang-Surabaya-Malang. Then we will also expand the Malang-Yogyakarta route because it is also attractive," he said.
Previously, Cititrans operated the Bandung-Malang, Malang-Yogyakarta and Jakarta-Solo-Wonogiri routes. Since its launch in April 2024, Cititrans Busline has operated six AKAP routes.
Cititrans CEO Andrew Arristianto mentioned that the addition of these routes was due to public enthusiasm. He explained that customers can book tickets through the application and website.
"Customers are provided with the convenience to book, choose meal services, reschedule, and even get a refund. Cititrans Busline ensures punctuality by making sure the fleet departs on schedule and limiting the number of stops," he said in a statement received by Tempo on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Andrew mentioned that Cititrans Busline has expanded its two offered classes, namely Suites and Super Executive. He detailed that the Suites class will offer a private compartment, more spacious legroom, electric reclining seats, wireless charging, and video or audio on demand.
The Super Executive class, on the other hand, offers seats with legroom and reclining seats to the back row. This service is also equipped with dual USB A and C charging ports. In addition, the lavatory area has been enlarged to make passengers feel more comfortable during the journey.
Other developments include on-board Wi-Fi, blankets, pillows, noodle cups, coffee, tea and complimentary meals. The safety and security of users during the journey is always a priority with CCTV in each fleet and drivers who will change once at the Krapyak pick-up or drop-off point.
