TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The globally renowned band Coldplay launched their latest music video for 'Man in the Moon' on February 7th. What makes this release particularly special is its setting in the stunning city-state of Singapore.
Shot during the band’s Music of the Spheres World Tour in January 2024, the video features Singapore's iconic landmarks and hidden gems, offering a fresh, local perspective on the vibrant cityscape. Directed by Ben Mor, whose previous credits include the popular 'Hymn For The Weekend' video, the visual narrative perfectly aligns with the song’s theme of unity, transcending individual differences through shared experiences.
In every second, the video beautifully highlights Singapore's diverse cultural landmarks while focusing on its core message of connection. It portrays the energy of local youth from varied backgrounds, including cosplayers, creatives, and everyday citizens. In doing so, it successfully reflects Coldplay’s goal of bringing people from different walks of life together, reinforcing the idea that, despite our differences, we all share common experiences.
What sets 'Man in the Moon' apart is the seamless blend of everyday local life with the extraordinary. From the floating stage at Marina Bay, set against the stunning city skyline, to intimate scenes in neighborhoods like MacPherson and Geylang, the video shows how ordinary locations can hold extraordinary moments, enriching the collective experience of the people who inhabit them.
The local youth featured in the video also add a personal touch to this global production. From visual artist Sam Lo (Sticker Lady) to singer-songwriter Shazza and radio DJ Avery Aloysius Yeo, the video shines in its exploration of diversity and youth culture.
In collaboration with Warner Music Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board, 'Man in the Moon' perfectly captures the harmony between Singapore’s grace and Coldplay’s signature sound, serving as a tribute to art and culture.
