TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, conveyed the preparation process for the implementation of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage or 1447 Hijriah. The next year's Hajj operational activities are estimated to begin on April 18, 2026, coinciding with the 1st of Dzulqa'dah 1447 Hijriah.

"For the domestic implementation preparations, we are currently conducting the verification of fully qualified pilgrims or (BPIH) the Cost of Implementing the Hajj Worship for the year 1447 Hijriah or 2026 AD," Dahnil stated during a working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VIII at the MPR/DPR Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Dahnil explained that this process is carried out by informing pilgrims who will be departing for Hajj in all provinces to promptly prepare for payment, health istitha'ah examination, and hajj travel documents.

In addition, the Ministry of Hajj is currently selecting air transportation providers. "We have invited all airline companies from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia to participate in the selection process," he said.

At present, the process is in the stage of administrative document verification and technical provisions. Dahnil hopes to be able to negotiate prices soon after determining the air transportation cost limit.

Furthermore, other preparations for the 2026 Hajj that the Ministry is undertaking include the recruitment of hajj worship organizers or PPIH, both for domestic and in Saudi Arabia.

Later, officials will undergo approximately 30 days of training, with materials covering policies, technical aspects, problem-solving, basic Arabic language, basic English language, and basic hajj jurisprudence. "So that each official will have the technical skills and be able to communicate with providers in Saudi Arabia," Dahnil mentioned.

According to Dahnil, officials will also receive physical strengthening and discipline training to be able to provide maximum service to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.

Furthermore, Dahnil continued that the Ministry of Hajj is also preparing for special Hajj pilgrim payments by coordinating with special Hajj worship organizers (PIHK). "This process involves the verification of fully qualified special Hajj pilgrims and the preparation of PIHK who have the authority to input Hajj pilgrims into the Saudi nusuk platform," said Dahnil.

Additionally, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah plans to open a new embarkation point, the official departure point for Hajj, in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Dahnil Anzar stated that this embarkation is to shorten the journey for Hajj pilgrims originating from Yogyakarta.

Dahnil stated that the addition of this departure point is an effort to expand Hajj service access in order to improve the efficiency and comfort of the Hajj worship. "One of the strategic steps that we are currently realizing is the addition of a new Hajj embarkation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta," Dahnil said.

Dahnil explained that once this embarkation point is opened, pilgrims from Yogyakarta will no longer need to depart from Solo. Until now, pilgrims from Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta mostly depart from the Solo embarkation point.

"The addition of the Yogyakarta Hajj embarkation is a tangible manifestation of the spirit of decentralizing Hajj services while also meeting the needs of the people of Yogyakarta and the surrounding areas who have had to depart through other embarkation points, namely Solo," Dahnil stated.

With the presence of this embarkation point, he believes that travel time and the burden on pilgrims' journeys can be significantly reduced. "So that they can depart more comfortably and devoutly," Dahnil said.
