TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has finalized the cost of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage (BPIH) for departures in 1446 Hijri or 2025 at Rp89,410,258.79. This cost will be shared between the government at 62 percent and individual pilgrims at 38 percent.
This agreement was announced by Abdul Wachid, Head of the BPIH Working Committee (Panja) of DPR Commission VIII, during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) between Commission VIII and the Religious Affairs Ministry at the parliament building in Central Jakarta on Monday, January 6, 2025.
“The total BPIH for organizing the Hajj pilgrimage in 1446 Hijri or 2025 is Rp89,410,258.79,” Abdul stated.
This year's BPIH represents a decrease of Rp4,000,027.21 compared to the 2024 BPIH of Rp93,410,286.
The cost-sharing scheme for this year differs from the previous year. While this year sees 62 percent of the costs covered by the government and 38 percent by the pilgrims, the 2024 scheme had a lower contribution from pilgrims at 60 percent and a higher contribution from the government at 40 percent.
The Hajj pilgrimage cost (Bipih) payable by each pilgrim this year is Rp55,431,750.78. This amount covers flight tickets, accommodation in Mecca and Medina, and living expenses. Abdul noted that the 2025 Bipih has decreased by Rp614,420.82 from the 2024 Bipih of Rp56,046,171.60.
The total benefit value borne by the government for this year's Hajj costs is Rp6,831,820,756,658.34. This is a decrease of Rp1,368,219,881,908.86 from the total benefit value allocated for the 2024 BPIH, which was Rp8,200,040,638,567.00.
Abdul explained that the Bipih payment is made by Hajj pilgrims after deducting their initial deposit and the balance of benefits in their individual virtual accounts. “And it can be paid in installments until the final payment deadline,” he added.
The BPIH amount agreed upon by the DPR is lower than the initial proposal submitted by the government, as is the Bipih amount.
