TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 53-year-old tourist from the Philippines died after falling unconscious on a ride at Hong Kong Disneyland. Authorities said the incident was not linked to any safety issues with the attraction.
According to CNA, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort announced that the guest lost consciousness while on the Frozen Ever After ride at around 10 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025. He was rushed to North Lantau Hospital but was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m.
Initial reports mistakenly identified the victim as a woman, but it was later confirmed that he was a Filipino man. His wife, who was with him, realized he had slipped into a coma during the ride and quickly alerted staff.
A resort spokesperson said first-aid responders boarded the ride as the boat returned to the dock and performed CPR before the man was taken to the hospital.
“The resort deeply regrets the passing of the guest and will do its utmost to provide necessary assistance to his family,” the spokesperson said, adding that “the initial investigation has shown the incident is not related to ride safety.”
Police confirmed receiving the report at 10:18 AM and said the man’s wife informed them that he had pre-existing health conditions. Local media later reported that the victim had a history of heart disease and hypertension spanning more than a decade, requiring regular treatment.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong confirmed the death on Saturday and said it was coordinating with authorities to help the family with repatriation.
The Frozen Ever After ride is part of the World of Frozen attraction, which opened in late 2023. Marketed as a family-friendly experience, the slow-moving water ride features advanced animatronics of characters such as Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. The official guidelines, however, advise pregnant women against riding.
