As explained on the domestic low-cost carrier Pelita Air website, passengers' belongings will be weighed and placed in the aircraft's cargo compartment. Items in checked baggage are inaccessible during the flight.
After being weighed and checked, the baggage receives a special label indicating the arrival terminal and a unique serial number. This label helps passengers locate their belongings at the baggage claim area upon arrival.
However, certain items are restricted or prohibited in checked baggage. LCC Lion Air's website outlines a list of these prohibited items, as detailed below.
1. Important documents
Passports, tickets, identification cards, travel documents, and other valuable documents are prohibited from being packed in checked baggage. It is best to keep them in the cabin baggage.
2. Electronic items
Fragile electronics like laptops, cameras, tablets, mobile phones, and other electronic devices are not allowed in checked baggage as they have a high risk of damage.
3. Money and jewelry
Cash, credit cards, ATM cards, and jewelry, including gold, diamonds, and other valuable items should be carried with you in the cabin.
4. Personal medications
Medications, especially those needed during the flight, should not be placed in checked baggage.
5. Other valuable items
Items with historical or sentimental value, such as heirlooms or precious gifts, are also not allowed in checked baggage.

The main reason for these restrictions is to allow passengers to store these items with them in the cabin. This ensures that valuable items are always under direct supervision and minimizes the risk of loss or damage.
Generally, airlines are not responsible for the loss or damage of valuable items placed in checked baggage. Therefore, they strongly advise passengers to carry such items in the cabin.
