TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has implemented a diversion operation pattern following the ongoing floods that inundated the railway tracks at Pekalongan and Sragi Station in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, which began on early Saturday, January 16, 2026.

The Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated that the journeys of several trains passing through the North Coast line of Central Java have been diverted through the southern route.

"The journeys of several trains from the west have been diverted through the Tegal - Prupuk - Kroya - Solobalapan - Gundih - Gambringan and Semarang Tawang routes," said Luqman in Semarang on Saturday, January 17, 2026, as quoted from Antara.

Some of the train journeys that followed this route diversion include KA Argo Anjasmoro, KA Harina, and KA Kamandaka. Furthermore, the journeys of several trains from Semarang Station had to be canceled due to the natural disaster.

The canceled train departures include KA Kaligung and KA Merbabu.

In an effort to ensure the smooth operation of train journeys on the flooded tracks, PT KAI has prepared a BB 304 type locomotive that can pass through the flooded areas. The locomotive will pull trains from the east to the west when crossing the flooded tracks.

Previously, the railway track between Pekalongan and Sragi Station in Pekalongan Regency has been flooded since early Saturday. The water level reached 10 cm above the track.
