TEMPO.COJakarta - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta in Indonesia has recorded that six neighborhood units were inundated by floods on Monday morning, January 12, 2026. The cause of the flooding in several areas of Jakarta was due to heavy rainfall since early in the morning and the overflow of rivers.

The Head of Data and Information Center of BPBD Jakarta, Muhammad Yohan, stated that four neighborhood units in South Jakarta were affected by the floods. Specifically, one unit in Duren Tiga Sub-district and three others in Pasar Minggu Sub-district.

"The flooded area in one unit in Duren Tiga Sub-district reached 40 centimeters. Meanwhile, the flood height in three units in Pasar Minggu Sub-district ranged from 40 to 95 centimeters," he said in a written statement on Monday, January 12, 2026.

In North Jakarta, 2 residential areas in Tanjung Priok Sub-district were recorded as being affected by floods. The water level in that area reached 20 centimeters. "The cause is high rainfall. The situation is still being handled," he said.

Yohan mentioned that four road sections in Jakarta were also inundated. The flooded roads due to heavy morning rain occurred on Anggrek Street in Rawa Badak Utara Sub-district; Walang Baru VII A Street in Tugu Utara Sub-district; Rorotan 10 Street in Rorotan Sub-district in front of Tanwirul Ikhsan Mosque; and Taman Stasiun Street in Tanjung Priok Sub-district.

Yohan stated that BPBD Jakarta has deployed personnel to monitor the waterlogging conditions in each area. BPBD, he said, also coordinated with various sectors, such as the Fire and Rescue Agency, the Road Development Agency, and the Water Resources Agency, to drain the waterlogged areas.

"Also, to ensure that the drainage systems are functioning properly together with the local neighborhood heads and sub-district heads," he said. He mentioned that BPBD has also begun preparing basic needs for the flood-affected victims.

He stated that the flooding in several areas of Jakarta is expected to recede soon. "We urge the public to remain cautious and vigilant against the potential for waterlogging," he said.
