Free Homecoming Program 2025: Here are the Quotas and Travel Routes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Approaching the 1446 Hijriyah Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Fitr 2025, several regional governments (Pemda) in Indonesia organized free homecoming programs. This initiative is aimed at facilitating the tradition of returning to hometowns while helping to reduce the usual traffic density during the homecoming and return traffic.

This free homecoming program is held by various provincial governments (Pemprov), district governments (Pemkab), and city governments (Pemkot) throughout Indonesia. Several modes of transportation used in this program include buses and trains.

Here are some free homecoming programs from the government and their quotas:

1. Bandung District Government

Reported from the Instagram account @bandungpemkab, the Bandung District Government held a 2025 free homecoming program specifically for Bandung residents. Prospective travelers can prove their status by showing their electronic identity card (e-KTP) or a domicile certificate for those residing in Bandung Regency.

Registration opened on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, and will be closed when the quota is full. The registration process is done online. After registering, participants will receive a notification via WhatsApp as confirmation that they have been registered.

Participants are required to re-register directly at the Bandung District Transportation Office (Dishub) or Cicalengka Terminal. During this process, participants will receive homecoming tickets and choose seats. This re-registration takes place on March 19-21, 2025, from 08.00-20.00 WIB. The departure of the free homecoming program from the Bandung District Government is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2025. The meeting point is at the Soreang Cultural Building Area, Al-Fathu Street, Pamekaran, Soreang, Bandung, West Java.

2. Banten Provincial Government

Based on information from the Instagram account @pemprov.banten, the Banten Provincial Government will hold a free homecoming program in 2025 with various destinations in Java and Sumatra. This program includes homecoming trips from Banten Province to other regions and vice versa.

For departure routes from Banten Province, the provided destinations include the East Java region, specifically Surabaya City (90 people), Madiun City (90 people), and Malang City (90 people). Meanwhile, for the Central Java region, the available destinations include Banyumas Regency/Purwokerto (90 people), Brebes Regency (90 people), Semarang City (90 people), and Surakarta City (90 people).

Departures from Banten Province also include destinations to various other regions, namely West Java (Garut Regency for 90 people, Cilegon City for 90 people, and Tasikmalaya City for 90 people), Yogyakarta Special Region (Yogyakarta City for 180 people), and South Sumatra (Palembang City for 90 people). As for departures from outside Banten Province, routes are available from Yogyakarta City (90 people) and Bandung City (90 people). Registration is done online through the jawaramudik.bantenprov.go.id website from March 2 to 25, 2025, and will be closed when the quota is full.

3. South Sumatra

The South Sumatra Provincial Government through the Transportation Agency has prepared free homecoming quotas for 2,000 South Sumatra residents with various travel routes. The Head of the South Sumatra Transportation Agency, Arinarsa, mentioned that this year there are additional travel routes for cross-Sumatra homecoming, namely to Bandung, West Java. Routes to Yogyakarta and Solo in Central Java are also available.

Routes outside South Sumatra province

  • Palembang - Padang (West Sumatra)
  • Palembang - Lubuk Basung
  • Palembang - Medan
  • Palembang - Padang Sinibuang
  • Palembang - Yogyakarta
  • Palembang - Solo
  • Palembang - Bandung (new route this year)

4. Jakarta Provincial Government

The Jakarta Provincial Government is organizing a free homecoming program in 2025 and began the free homecoming registration on Friday, March 7, 2025. A total of 293 buses capable of accommodating up to 22,403 passengers are encouraged for this free homecoming program. For interested prospective travelers, the registration process is carried out online. After successfully registering, participants must undergo a verification process. Registration will close when the free homecoming quota is full.

The free homecoming program from the Jakarta Provincial Government offers free bus services to 20 cities and regencies in 6 different provinces. The Jakarta Provincial Government also provides truck facilities for transporting motorcycles belonging to the homecomers.
