TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (ICDX) recorded that digital gold trading transactions in the first quarter of 2026 reached 30,921,382 grams. This volume represents a 246 percent growth compared to the same period in 2025, when total transactions reached 8,941,108 grams.

"The growth in transactions during the first quarter of 2026 shows that digital gold trading on the Futures Exchange is increasingly in demand by the public," said ICDX Director Nursalam, as quoted by Antara on Friday, April 17, 2026. "By observing the trends in this first quarter, we are optimistic that transactions will continue to grow positively until the end of the year," he said.

However, the ICDX has urged the public to remain cautious regarding various offers for digital gold trading appearing on social media. The ICDX will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, including the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), to drive transaction growth by continually promoting this ecosystem.

Head of Bappebti, Tirta Karma Senjaya, added that the agency will always ensure the physical existence of the gold traded within the digital gold market ecosystem as it operates in Indonesia. This is an effort to guarantee protection for the public.

Within this ecosystem, Bappebti, acting as the regulator, oversees the exchange as the marketplace, the clearing institution for transaction guarantees and settlements, and the depository institution responsible for storing the physical gold being traded.

This oversight also extends to traders and intermediaries of digital physical gold who serve as organizers, facilitating or channeling transaction orders from the public. "The hope is that this ecosystem will continue to flourish and become a primary alternative for public investment," said Tirta.

Regarding the digital physical gold markets, Bappebti data from 2025 recorded a total of 18.7 million investors within the ecosystem. Analyzed by age group, young investors dominate the field, with 36.3 percent in the 25-34 age bracket and 32.6 percent in the 18-24 age range.

Referring to professional backgrounds, students constitute the largest group with a total percentage of 35.1 percent. Furthermore, 94.9 percent of participants carry out transactions of less than 1 gram, while as many as 92.6 percent execute transactions with a value below Rp1 million.
