TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), together with the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), reported a doxing incident experienced by one of its researchers to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police on Monday morning, January 13, 2025.
ICW Public Campaign Division Coordinator Tibiko Zabar said the doxing targeted Diky Anandya, a criminal and legal researcher at the organization.
Diky's personal data, including his residential identification number (NIK) and his last coordinates, were spread through social media.
According to Tibiko, Diky was doxxed after delivering a statement and press release to the media crew on former president Joko Widodo, who was shortlisted as one of the most corrupt figures in 2024 by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).
“ICW researchers responded to President Jokowi’s nomination in the OCCRP list through a press release. It was immediately greeted with such doxing efforts,” said Tibiko on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Tibiko considers the act of doxing a violation of the law, in addition to a sense of anti-criticism showcased due to the mention of Jokowi’s name as a nominee in OCCRP’s must corrupt leaders’ list.
“We believe the doxing was part of the efforts to obscure the message or criticism that ICW or other civil society wants to convey,” Tibiko said.
ICW researcher Diky Anandya was doxxed on Friday, January 3, 2025. ICW and TAUD only reported the incident to Bareskrim, but not the social media account that spread Diky’s personal data.
