TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has allocated Rp1.37 trillion for a national internship program aimed at university graduates. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the funding covers the implementation period of 2025-2026.

The program initially targets 20,000 participants, focusing on recent university graduates with a bachelor’s degree.

“The government is allocating Rp1.37 trillion for the internship program for university graduates. The initial target is 20,000 participants, but thisa may gradually increase to 100,000,” Purbaya said during a meeting with Commission IV of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) in Senayan, Jakarta, on November 3, 2025.

According to Purbaya’s presentation, Rp300 billion will be disbursed in 2025 for a 2.5-month pilot phase running from October to December 2025, while Rp1.06 trillion is allocated for 2026 for a 3.5-month program.

Participants will receive a monthly stipend equivalent to the local minimum wage (UMK), averaging Rp3.8 million, he added.

Manpower Minister Yassierli said the national internship program forms part of the government’s economic stimulus efforts. The initiative aims to provide work experience, expose participants to professional environments, and enhance job competencies.

To accommodate more participants, the program will open placements not only in private companies but also in ministries and government institutions across Indonesia.

Company registration and program proposals will run from October 1 to 14, 2025, followed by participant registration from October 7 to 15.

The selection and announcement of successful candidates are scheduled for October 16 to 18, with internships commencing on October 20, 2025, and ending on April 19, 2026.

During the six-month internship, participants will receive stipends directly paid by the government through state-owned banks, including BNI, BRI, BTN, Mandiri, and BSI.

They will also be covered by Manpower Social Security (Jamsostek), which includes Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Insurance (JKM), and receive mentorship from host institutions as well as an official completion certificate.
