TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded US209.80 billion in exports from January to September 2025, marking an 8.14 percent growth compared to the same period last year, which stood at US$194.01 billion.
Deputy Head of Statistics Dissemination and Services at BPS, Pudji Ismartini, explained that the growth is driven primarily by non-oil and gas exports. The value of non-oil and gas exports reached US$199.77 billion, up by 9.57 percent compared to the previous year's US$182.33 billion.
Meanwhile, exports in oil and gas weakened by 14.09 percent to US$10.03 billion this year. "Indonesia's export performance is still supported by the non-oil and gas sector, especially the manufacturing industry, which is the primary driver," said Pudji during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Non-oil and gas exports experience growth in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors, with the latter contributing to a 12.58 percent share of total non-oil and gas exports.
The value of manufacturing exports reached US$167.85 billion, a 17.02 percent hike compared to the same period the previous year. The growth primarily occurred in commodities such as palm oil, non-iron base metals, jewelry and precious items, organically-based basic chemicals from agricultural products, as well as semiconductors and other electronic components.
In addition to the manufacturing industry, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector also recorded positive performance with exports valued at US$5.19 billion, a 14.33 percent gain compared to the previous year.
On the other hand, the mining and other sectors experienced a contraction, slipping by 23.7 percent to US$26.73 billion until September 2025. Pudji added that the upward trend in non-oil and gas exports is a positive signal for Indonesia's foreign trade performance amidst fluctuating global commodity prices and diverse market demands.
