TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, revealed that Indonesia and Russia are planning to open an international flight route connecting Moscow and Bali, in a move anticipated to bolster the relations between the two nations.
"We are encouraging people-to-people collaboration, including with direct flights from Moscow to Bali," said Airlangga while attending the Russia-Indonesia Business Forum at the Raffles Hotel, Jakarta, on Monday afternoon, April 14, 2025.
Airlangga explained that the plan has been discussed with the visiting Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov.
The minister hoped to open the new flight route between Moscow and Bali in a swift manner, adding that it would boost the economic cooperation between Russia and Indonesia. He highlighted the role of the Moscow-Jakarta flight route in supporting business actors in both countries.
"We have objectively bolstered the trade ties between Indonesia and Russia, with Jakarta-Moscow (flight route) as the bridge,” said Airlangga.
The governments of Indonesia and Russia held the Roscongress International Business Forum at the Raffles Hotel, Jakarta, on Monday, April 14, 2025. Several speakers were scheduled to discuss the economic cooperation between the two countries. This event also involved the Russian Export Center (REC).
The forum will also bring together more than 30 Russian companies, including digital solution providers, food product manufacturers, special equipment, and other industries. The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation under the Roscongress International brand and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
