TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Seven representatives of the online motorcycle taxi drivers’ alliance entered the Senayan Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
The delegates represented driver communities from Jakarta, West Java, Riau, Banten, Yogyakarta, South Sumatra, and East Kalimantan.
Chairman of the alliance’s Regional Leadership Council in West Java, Arya Adang Hidayat, said the representatives had been invited to meet with House of Representatives (DPR) leaders and members of Commission V to present the drivers’ demands.
“We don’t know yet which members of Commission V we will meet, but Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has confirmed he will receive us,” Arya told reporters before entering the DPR complex.
He explained that the request for an audience was submitted the previous day, when the alliance had already met with Dasco at the DPR building. According to Arya, Dasco had asked the drivers to formally convey their demands and represent the concerns of regional driver communities.
“So this was not a sudden invitation. Mr. Dasco had already asked us to sit down and have an audience,” Arya said.
Seven Key Demands
Earlier in the day, thousands of online motorcycle taxi drivers rallied outside the DPR to press seven demands. These include:
Adding the Online Transportation Bill to the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
Fixing the 10 percent application service fee without negotiation.
Issuing driver-friendly regulations on delivery and food tariffs.
Conducting an investigative audit of the additional 5 percent deduction imposed by apps.
Eliminating harmful application features such as bidding, slot systems, multi-orders, and paid memberships.
Replacing the Minister of Transportation with one more aligned to drivers’ interests.
Calling on the National Police Chief to fully investigate the August 28 tragedy that claimed the lives of two drivers, Affan Kurniawan in Jakarta and Rusdamdiyansah in Makassar.
Tempo has reached out to Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad to confirm the audience with the driver representatives. However, as of publication, the message sent had only shown a double gray check mark, indicating delivery but no reply.
