TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is set to bestow medals and honors in the celebration of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, August 25, 2025. According to documents obtained by Tempo, 114 individuals are set to receive these medals and honors. The document was issued by the Ministry of Culture on August 23, 2025, and signed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Bambang Wibawarta.
Some of the individuals who will receive these honors and decorations are members of the Red and White Cabinet and chairpersons of political parties. Among them are the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Chairperson of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia, the Minister of Social Affairs Syaifullah Yusuf, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, the Minister of Food Security and Chairperson of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development and Chairperson of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and the Minister of Community Empowerment and Chairperson of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin).
Tempo has attempted to confirm the names. However, they have not responded. Likewise, the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has not responded to Tempo's messages.
The bestowal of medals and honors was initially scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2025. However, it has not been carried out. On August 5, 2025, Prasetyo Hadi announced that 22 individuals had been nominated to receive medals and honors from President Prabowo.
"The team has already presented to the President the proposed names for this year to receive awards or honors from the state," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Prasetyo mentioned that the dozens of names come from various backgrounds, including cultural figures, politicians, environmental activists, journalists, and community leaders in remote, frontier, and outermost regions. "There are 22 proposed names," he said.
