TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Retno Marsudi officially left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) after Sugiono was inaugurated as the foreign minister. Retno's farewell was held at the Kemlu office.
Based on Tempo observation, Retno along with former Deputy Foreign Minister (Wamenlu) Pahala Mansury, met with Sugiono first at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Compound on Monday evening, October 21, 2024.
The meeting was also attended by three deputy foreign ministers, namely Arif Havas Oegroseno, Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, and Anis Matta.
Furthermore, Retno and Pahala left the Pancasila Building and met with the Kemlu employees waiting for them in the Kemlu office yard at 18:35 local time. Retno immediately greeted her staff and waved her hand.
"Thank you everyone," said Retno with a smile.
Accompanied by Sugiono, Retno and the group toured the Kemlu yard to shake hands and bid farewell to all her present subordinates. She also took the time to take selfies with the Kemlu staff.
"Hope everyone is doing well," Retno said, welcomed by the Kemlu staff cheers.
Shortly after, Retno headed to her car parked not far from the Pancasila Building. Before getting into the car, Retno took the time to shake hands with Sugiono.
Then, Retno hurriedly got into the car. "I love you all," Retno said to her staff.
After Retno left Kemlu at 18:50 local time, Sugiono revealed the message conveyed by Retno to him. However, he did not explain in detail the content of their conversation. "Continue the struggle," Sugiono imitated Retno's words.
