TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national team's position remained stagnant in the latest FIFA rankings, announced on January 19, 2026. Indonesia remains ranked 122nd in the world, the same as the previous edition released on December 19, 2025.
This ranking update was carried out by FIFA following the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which impacted the points earned by several African countries. Indonesia did not participate in any international matches between December and January, so there was no change in its ranking or points.
Indonesia currently holds 1,144.73 points, a narrow 1.16 points behind Malaysia, which is ranked 121st in the world. Indonesia's stagnation in the ranking is considered reasonable considering the absence of international matches during that assessment period.
In Asia, Japan remains the highest-ranked nation, although it has dropped one spot to 19th. Japan is followed by Iran at 20th, South Korea at 22nd, and Australia at 27th.
Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, Thailand is the highest-ranked country and the only one to break into the world's top 100, occupying 96th place. Thailand is followed by Vietnam at 108th, Malaysia at 121st, Indonesia at 122nd, the Philippines at 136th, and Singapore at 148th.
FIFA is scheduled to release its next updated world rankings on April 1, 2026, after the March international break. During that period, Indonesia will host the 2026 FIFA World Series.
In that event, the Indonesian national team is scheduled to face Bulgaria, the Solomon Islands, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. This series of matches has the potential to provide momentum for Indonesia to boost its world ranking in the next FIFA ranking update.
