TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia will host the Group B qualification round of the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup 2025. The Indonesian Women's Futsal national team will host teams such as Hong Kong, India, and Kyrgyzstan at Among Rogo Sports Hall Yogyakarta.
Deputy Secretary General III of the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI), Dirgantara Pangaribuan, said the Indonesian Women's Futsal National Team is aiming for victory in all Group B matches to ensure a ticket to the Women's Futsal Asian Cup.
The tournament will be held in China in May 2025.
“We have brought in an experienced coach. This shows our commitment to become the best team in the world,” Dirgantara said in Central Jakarta on Friday, December 27.
Assistant Coach of the Indonesian Women's Futsal National Team, Citra Adisti, said Luis Estrela's presence as coach boosts players’ and coaching staff’s optimism. Moreover, Citra said, the Garuda Pertiwi squad had played against the Bahrain national team in a trial match abroad.
Citra wants the result of said game to reflect the team’s target in Group B matches. “We are ready, and we will continue to hold trial matches. as well as relegation-promotion of players to form the best squad in this championship,” she said, adding that the team is optimistic about their odds in the qualification rounds.
Citra believes Hong Kong will be a tough opponent for the Indonesian national team. According to her, the country shows significant growth in women’s futsal. “We are confident to win against India since they are a newly formed team. We don’t have any issues with Kyrgyzstan since the players are tall but slow. That's what we will take advantage of—the opponent's shortcomings,” said Citra.
This tournament is the first series that the Indonesian Women's Futsal National Team must face to participate in the Women's Futsal World Cup, which will be held in the Philippines on November 21, 2025. A total of 18 countries will take part in the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup 2025 Qualification round.
The participating teams are divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group and the best third-placed team will advance to the finals.
Thus, nine teams will join hosting China and the two AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup 2018 finalists, Iran and Japan.
