TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s U-23 national football team, Garuda Muda, will begin their SEA Games 2025 campaign on Monday, December 8, against the Philippines in a Group C match at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Originally, Indonesia was scheduled to face Singapore in the group’s opening match on Friday, December 5. However, following Cambodia’s withdrawal from the tournament due to security concerns, Singapore was moved to Group A alongside host Thailand and Timor Leste. Group C now features three teams, matching the size of Groups A and B.
The Philippines will open their campaign against Myanmar in Group C on Friday, December 5, also at the 700th Anniversary Stadium.
After facing the Philippines, Indonesia will play Myanmar on Friday, December 12, at the same stadium, which can host over 17,000 spectators.
The group winner will advance directly to the semifinals, while the second-placed team may qualify based on points, goal difference, goals scored, wins, disciplinary record, and, if necessary, a draw.
Indonesia’s U-23 squad arrived in Thailand on Friday, November 28. Head coach Indra Sjafri, recently reappointed, has the chance to make history by leading the team to back-to-back SEA Games titles, following their successful campaign in 2023.
